So you are looking to attend a defensive driving course or you feel that a friend or loved one would benefit from such a course, and there are lots of companies offering all these spectacular training days, racing around tracks in fancy cars and some of the information will be very beneficial but is it enough?

Our philosophy to Safe Driving is to ensure your safety at all times, not just when operating the vehicle. By this I mean defensive driving techniques and personal safety training. The PPTA (Pass Plus Training Academy) course is to raise awareness to all potential dangers whilst entering, leaving and operating a vehicle, the old philosophy behind defensive driving was skid control and knowing how to control the vehicle in all conditions.

Times have changed so we have introduced the PPTA safe driving course which covers the skills needed to survive in today’s society.

This is achieved through a mixture of short theoretical sessions and long practical driving sessions conducted on normal roads and speeds. It can be conducted in any roadworthy vehicle from the smallest sedan, right up to 4 x 4 and light commercial vehicles.

The PPTA course will provide drivers with an increased understanding of the risks associated with driving and personal safety.

The way this is achieved is by changing your mind set – feel the power:

  • Believe you are not afraid
  • Tell yourself you are in control
  • Motivate yourself and be confident

Say to yourself “I CAN do this!”

The first part of the course is focused on your driving habit and highlighting areas of high risk behavior associated with –

  • Distractions
  • Speeding
  • Driving when tired
  • Trip and time management
  • Not wearing seat belts
  • Vehicle loads

Drivers can use their own vehicle during the practical components of this course (must be registered and subject to basic safety checks). All practical components are conducted at suburban traffic speeds and all relevant road laws must be adhered to at all times.

At the completion of the course it is expected that all drivers will demonstrate:

  • An awareness of how risk taking and motivation can affect your safety on the road
  • How to identify potential hazards and avoid them, (inside and outside the vehicle)
  • Improved vision while driving
  • An understanding of the risks associated with alcohol, drugs and fatigue
  • The importance of correct tyre pressures and condition
  • The importance of seat belts and other safety devices in the vehicle
  • How to minimise distractions and loose objects in the vehicle
  • How to identify different braking systems and how to use them effectively
  • How speed can effect stopping distances
  • A responsible attitude to self, other road users and community
  • How to apply defensive driving techniques
  • How to prevent any harm coming to yourself or others

PPTA course can be custom designed to meet your desired needs, we can conduct the course around your everyday route from work to home, this will allow us to highlight potential danger zones.

Who can attend?

The course is open to all drivers of any age. Many parents attend with their teenager and benefit from the experience. The PPTA Training requires all participants to be at least on their Red P’s. This is not a learn-to-drive course. Please do not attend if you cannot drive, steer or brake

Why attend the course?

Some people believe that they are safe, they live in a wealthy area, they use secure parking and they have not or will not have a crash, we hope this remains true and with the PPTA course we can help reduce the risks of personal harm to yourself or others, through an assault or vehicle crash.

But I am already a good driver!

Are you sure? Most people regard themselves as an above average driver. Good drivers are not born they are made. Our course will show you things you will not otherwise discover about driving safely. We guarantee that even the most experienced driver will learn a lot from this course.

If you are an employer and you would like the above training, plus the legal assessment that all employers must undertake before being allowed to use a vehicle as part of the work place, this can be added in, additional fees apply. For more information on employers legal responsibilities please look at the page marked (Fleet/Corporate) on our website. All participants will be presented with a Certificate of Achievement for attending the course. Cost – $250 per driver.
